Lake Andrew Association
Our organization strives to promote good lake management for Lake Andrew in Douglas County, Minnesota. Good lake management is maintained by informing members of lake management strategies, building a strong community around the lake and assuring accurate communication with members.
Uncontrolled invasive weed growth could quickly take over our lake, making the environment less hospitable for fish and recreational use. Excess nutrients from organic debris, fish waste, and runoff contribute to the rapid spread of invasive plant species, which can choke out native aquatic vegetation. The health of our lake requires a combination of proactive care from our residents, like conducting lake surveys to identify invasive species as well as water testing to alert any new concerns. Managing weed growth is an essential step in obtaining good water quality and sustaining a thriving aquatic environment. DNR permits are required for treating invasive weeds, and it is our objective with these treatments, which are selectively controlled to allow the native plants to recover in these areas. The health of Lake Andrew is essential for wildlife and enjoyment for future generations.
